3 Things You May Not Have Known About the Pinterest Platform

Do you have a Pinterest Profile? If you do, is it used for fun or business purposes?

If you aren't familiar with how Pinterest can be used for business purposes, read on. Here are three things you may not have known about the Pinterest platform that may have you wanting to open up your own business account!

1. Pinterest is not considered a social media platform. Pinterest is actually more of a search engine. It can be an excellent tool for your small business if used correctly!

2. Using the appropriate keywords can help you show up in Google searches. We all want to show up on Google when someone searches for what we are selling. If your small business has a Pinterest profile and uses the appropriate keywords in the descriptions, you have a greater chance of being found! Use keywords everywhere you can on Pinterest. Use them on your pin, in your captions, and in your board descriptions. You also want to save the pin graphic with the correct keywords.

3. People often search on Pinterest for events or topics that will be happening 2-3 months out. Many people use Pinterest to help them plan out something that may be happening in the future, such as a holiday dinner or vacation. Posting pins that will be more relevant a few months in the future can get more eyes on your content when someone is looking for it! For example, summer is about two months away. Many people are planning for their summer vacations now. If you created a pin that could help someone with their summer vacation planning and posted it in the next week or two, it could help them with their planning, and they may save your pin!

Many small businesses overlook Pinterest to market their products or services, but we are here to tell you that it can be a great tool to get more eyes on what you are selling! If you are thinking about setting up a Pinterest account for your small business, consider posting new pins a minimum of 3-5 times a week for best results. If you are a planner like us, you can automatically schedule new pins to post up to 10 days in advance.
