How Artificial Intelligence is Reshaping SEO

The landscape of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is always changing.

Google is constantly evolving and always changing its algorithms. With the growing popularity of Artificial Intelligence (AI), many wonder if SEO is dead. While some would say yes, I believe the opposite is happening: SEO is evolving and changing.

Most people still use Google to search for answers to their questions. However, with the creation of platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini, some people will turn to them to get answers to their questions. That being said, small business owners who focus on SEO should consider those platforms and what they deliver.

Google has recently introduced AI overviews. AI overviews summarize the top search results for a specific topic. To have the information from your website show up, you need to use the right keywords to help answer the question being asked.

Does this mean that AI overviews will kill your SEO? Nope. If anything, we must take our standard SEO tactics and add AI optimization to our strategy. AI optimization is the next step in SEO. You are optimizing your website or sales page not only to get it to show up in searches, but also to get information from your website to appear in AI overview results.

It is also important to note that SEO now extends beyond just Google. People are now searching for answers to their questions on social media, where they spend much of their time. Using relevant keywords on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube will help get you seen more than just focusing on only Google searches.

So, what does the popularity of artificial intelligence mean for you as a small business owner?

Keyword strategy is still one of the most important ways to show up in searches. It's important to figure out what words your customers use to find what they're looking for.

It's also essential to write informative content. Be able to answer your customers' questions on your website and social media posts to be able to show up on Google and AI overviews. Good quality content will always win in SEO.

Consider expanding your presence if you're only focusing on SEO for Google. Be active on the social media sites where your customers are hanging out. You don't need to be on EVERY single social media platform - whoa, that sounds stressful! Just pick the platforms where your customers are hanging out.

Remember, SEO is constantly changing and evolving. As long as we are willing to adapt and adjust our marketing strategy, we can win at SEO!
